I have had a recent onset of pain on the right side of my neck radiating into my shoulder...Thought it might have been a pinched nerve, have been taking IBprofen, it has been on going for about a week now. I don t recall injuring myself with any activities. Any advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

You are having pain in neck and shoulder for week duration

Here trapezitis like muscle inflammation, muscular strain, nerve compression, spondylitis like causes has to be ruled out

Ibuprofen beneficial in relieving inflammation

Avoid strenous work and take rest

If needed local part x ray done and if still need investigation than MRI spine of cervical region can be done

If needed and pain increasing and inflammation is the cause(ESR high) than intralesional steroid can be injected

Take care

Consult orthopedic surgeon for examination and further work up
