Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was participating in an obstacle race. When reach a high wall I attempted to jump and grab the top of the wall. All I was able to do was get my finger tips on the top of the wall. On my downward movement I felt and heard a pop on my right ring finger between the hand and the first knuckle. I did not feel a lot of pain at the time and continued the race and a lot of obstacles without noticing pain. After the race and for the last couple of weeks the finger has had slight pain. I am unable to fully bend (ie 85%) but can fully extend the finger with some pain. The are looks to be slightly swollen. Squeezing the first knuckle increases the pain but still mild-medium. Looking to know next steps and if a doctor visit what kind of specialist should I see
Hi, looks like a sprain to me. Give 10 minute ice fomentation three times a day. Please keep the affected joint plus half an inch on either side immobilised with a surgical tape. You can take Ibuprofen 400 once a day for three days. If the pain increases--please see an orthopedician. Regards
