Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Thighs Of A Child

My son has complained about his mid-thighs hurting since he got up this morning. We said it was probably growing pains. This afternoon he took a nap, which he never does (he is 7). When he got up he started crying about feeling like his legs couldn t hold his weight. My husband felt his head and he was burning up. His temperature was 102 degrees. He then complained that his head hurt too. We then gave him Jr. Advil. Is this concerning enough to take him to an urgent care now, or should we just keep an eye on him and see how he is tomorrow. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms are likely related to a viral infection.

Viral infections are the most common infections seen and most likely to cause muscle or joint pain, fatigue, headache and fatigue.

At this stage, because the symptoms are not specific, the exact virus is not known.
It may be best to take him to be seen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
