Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Abdomen

Hello, I had my 4th c-section and tubes tied 11 weeks ago my recovery was normal for me up as soon as possible very little true discomfort only every needed a couple IBprofine after the epidural wore off, but about 3 weeks after my surgery I started to experience very serious gas pains and bloating in my abdomin mostly on the left side between my sternum and belly button. I have a high pain tolerance but there are times when my infant (11 weeks old) can kick me in the stomach and I feel as though I could black out from the pain. I went to my OBGYN at 9 weeks and she told me that this sometimes happens that a women s body changes and that this bloating and gas pain that I feel might just be my normal for right now that a lot of women have gas and bloating when they get their periods and that was probably what this was and that I should just give it a few months for my body to adjust and hormones to even back out, and hope it goes back to the way it was but this might just be my new normal. I know my body and this is not normal. I am conserved that some of this is the cause of the TL. I am 34 have had 6 pregnancies- 4 live birth children 2 miscarriages . I had anemia while I was pregnant this last time and I did lose about 28 lbs while pregnant I am not over weight I am 5 5 149 lbs. I have ad an umbilical hernia for the last 8 years. I had and upper and lower GI 6 years ago because of some other health issues they determined I had some autoimmune disease but they could determine what it was and just wrote me a Rx for steroids, and said anytime I have the same symptoms to come back and they would give me more...I don t have crones or ulcerative colitis. I do not want to accept that this pain in my stomach is my bodies new normal I know better then that. Do you have any recommendations of where to start on figuring this out.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The severe pain and bloating in the abdomen can be a sequence of post-operative adhesions from previous C sections surgeries.

It would be the best way to evaluate with a CT scan of the abdomen & pelvis to look into depth of this condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
