Hello, last week on Friday night I had a high speed impact on my lower left leg while snowboarding. I launched off of a 60 foot jump where I fell from about 50 feet vertical onto the slope below, with forward momentum. I landed most likely with slight rotation of legs to the left side, and flat on back. Most likely my left leg impacted a split second before my back. I immediately felt pain in my left leg, from the knee down to my ankle. I had severe pain in putting any weight on the left leg and managed to self evacuate from the slopes. The next morning I went to the ER and Xrays were negative for any fractures and the knee was said to be unaffected. A week later and I still have swelling around the knee and bruising on the back side of the knee. It hurts to straighten my leg in and around the knee, mostly below the knee. I also feel some pain on bending the knee fully but mostly on extension. Any lateral movement of the knee causes shooting pain. There is obvious swelling around the outside of the knee around the top of the tibia. Of concern to me is that the ER doctor stated that I had a previous fracture in the same area, not related to this and a bone fragment. I did have an accident years prior but once again, the Xrays at the time were negative for fractures. I'm icing and taking anti inflammatory. Doctor told me to progress at my own pace, pain permitting. I tend to ignore pain and progress at levels that an average person would not. Thank you. Doug
