Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg And Back Pain

During the night my husband woke up and had pain in his right leg in back of knee and could not lift the leg very well. He got up, walked around and it went away slowly. Today it s fine, what could be the cause? He exersizes daily at the gym with weight machines and we dance vigorously 2 -3 times a week. Never any pain during these activities.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Many things can cause pain in leg, such as muscle strain or spasm, sprains of ligaments, or joint problems.
Advice
1.     Take rest for days and avoid strenuous activity
2.     Hot fomentation with slight warm water
3.     Ibuprofen 600 mg per oral thrice daily for 5 days after meal then ibuprofen 600 mg per oral when pain occurs
4.     You can also apply locally Relaxyl ointment three time times daily or any other over the counter muscle relaxant ointment
5.     Consult a physiotherapist for exercise
If symptoms do not resolve with above measure, do following investigations
1.     X – ray knee
2.     MRI of knee for any soft tissue injury
Thanks
