Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had hives for about 4 days. They are getting worse. My doctor gave me a cream for the itching. I started taking a diet pill 2 weeks ago and other that there have been no changes in any part of my life. Doctor said he didnt think the diet pill could be the culprit. I took another this morning, it is time release. This evening my chest started hurting, I got very hoarse, and my lower stomach hurt and my pulse went crazy. My daughter saw on line that this was anaphylaxtic shock (after the fact). I had just chewed 2 benedryl. It passed and I will never take the pill again. This all happened an hour ago. I feel fine now, I don t feel it necassary to so to er. Am I wrong?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe hives on body which occurs when body give response to some external stimuli or some kind of allergen. Introduction of allergen to skin cause release of some chemical which make the skin to as well. They are usually harmless until they cause problem like breathing problems, swallowing problems. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to :-
- To find out the trigger factor which is a complicated thing , But the prevention of hives is the best thing one can do . So try to avoid the trigger factor .
- Give cold compresses to reduce itchiness . give cold compresses several times a day .
Consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe steroid therapy. Until then continue taking antihistamine drug 'benadryl'
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
