Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

I have been experiencing hip pain for about a year and a half. I used to ride my bicycle 50-150 miles a week. I have not been able to ride in a year and a half. I have had two MRI s, X-Rays, and a Cortisone injection. I have also done two three month sessions of physical therapy. Nothing has really helped. I stretch every day. Two days ago, I really wanted to try to get back on my bike, so I did a short, easy 12 mile ride. Today, two days later, I keep getting severe pains randomly as I walk around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think my PA is at a loss and doesn t know how else to help me. Don Bonneville YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Hip pain may be due to compression in lumbosacral nerves, pathology in hips, muscle fatigue, sprain. So for exact diagnosis to be made, get X-ray of lumbosacral spine in AP and lateral, X-ray of pelvis with both hips done and send me the report.

I want to see present condition of hip joint, disc space and vertebrae. Avoid any type of exercise. Till then have cap. Rabiprazole empty stomach, tab Aceclofenac 100 mg + Thiocolchicoside 4 mg thrice a day, cap. Pregabalin 75 mg + Methylcobalamine 750 mcg at night. Apply hot packs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
