Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

My granddaughter is 16 yrs.old and has played soccer sines she was 6. Just this year she has started having a lot of pain in her hips she has also had some bruising on her skin over her hip bone. When she wakes up on the morning she actually limps and has quite a bit of pain that seems to ease some throughout the day. She saw the family practitioner and he put her on anti-inflammatory meds. What could be causing her this much pain and bruising??

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
I would suggest immediate x ray of both hips.Starting pain at young age when no trauma history is there, may have to be looked into. The x ray should be of pelvis AP view to cover both hips for comparisan.position of joint and epiphysis whether slipped partialy?consult nearby orthopedician.Anthing missed now may have long range implicatins. It is safer to diagnose and reat early, if normal x ray , then one can rest in confidence and routine pain meds, rest, heat shall do
