Suggest Treatment For Severe Hands Pain After Lifting Heavy Objects

3 months ago I started a new job working in a busy receiving warehouse. Before this I had very little exercise. First day, I helped unload a tractor trailer and sorted 550 boxes of various sizes and weights. third day I slip in a freight elevator from a loose bolt on the floor. Landing between to pallets of boxes on my back hard. Not sure how I landed the way I did. Two days later I wake up in the morning and both hands are on fire and they feel like thousands of pins and shattered glass. I don t know what to hoping around trying to get this pain away. I never had any carpal tunnel issues. Neurology ran tests and said I had bilateral carpal tunnel. Question: I thought I had acute bilateral CTS. The doctors avoided the subject and said I had to have had CTS in the past. How rare or is it even possible that the fall or the strenuous work could have caused it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a simple musculoskeletal pain.

As the first line of management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief. Take bed rest.

Generally, the symptoms will settle by itself in a couple of days. If pain persists better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
