Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor prescribed clindymicin, Probenecid, a shot of steroid, and Hydrcodone for a severe attack of gout in right toe and swelling of entire foot. I have only one kidney, my right one was removed because a surgery to remove two stones failed to get both. Within 2 yrs my kidney died. Are the drugs harmful to my kidney? The steroid shot did not clear the pain. My foot swells and recedes. The pain is unbearable without Hydrocodone every 5 hours. What is your opinion. I won t use this opinion to correct my doctor. I just need another opinion. Thank you.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if this is gout condition then it need to be treated with "Allopurinol" and this is the drug of choice here else steroid need to be avoided, diet control is also necessary, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
