I have sever ear pain that stays at the top of the jaw, and ends at the top of the ear canal. Pull on. The love cause severe pain as well as touch any part of the lower ear. I was wondering what it is because it hurts like nothing I ve felt before.
Hi. It seems like you have an infection of your outer ear canal or an otitis externa. It could also be due to impacted and infected ear wax. The pain that worsens on touching any part of the lower ear is strongly suggestive of this. Due to the proximity of the ear canal to the jaw, it is possible that you may have pain radiating to the jaw or the throat and also worsening of pain during jaw movements.
In my opinion you must see an ENT specialist to examine your ear for otitis externa. You may need a course of oral antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and local application of antisceptic ointment inside the ear canal for about 5 days. This can be prescribed by your ENT doctor.
In addition, keep your ear dry by avoiding entry of water into the ear during a bath. Also avoid insering anything into the ear to prevent injury and worsening of infection. It is also recommended that you have your blood sugars tested since these infections are more likely in those with elevated sugars.
You can expect complete recovery in a weeks time. Do let me know if you have any other questions.
