My 8 year old son has had inner left ear pain off and on for a couple of weeks. The last two days the pain has been pretty severe with headache and sensitivity to touch on the top and back of left side of head and ear. No fever. He will lay down for a while, moan and cry. A dose of Motrin seems to relieve the pain about 30 minutes after given. He is up and active again until the pain comes back. When it comes back, it seems to be intermittent waves of pretty acute pain for several minutes. He is active, has seasonal allergies, swims quite a bit. The pain is enough to wake him at night when it hits. Otherwise he has been pretty healthy other than a peanut allergy.
