Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea In An Elderly Person
mother in law is 99 years old and have diarrhea for the last two weeks - almost every day - she gets two aspirin 81, lisinopril 2.5 and ranitidine 150. she also had a skin tear and got antibotics azithromycin for 4 or 5 days - starting October 13. The diarrhea stated October 30th and its of great concern as the dr has not been able to tell the cause. at the moment she is on a brat diet - she seems to be fine during the days but early morning and evenings she has diarrhea - she no longer takes a multivtamin tablet and since Friday the dr suggested to stop Ranitidine . all blood work came back negative for C-Diff and other tests. can you help me? she had a good appetite, she was not sick apart from occasional naseau -and vomit - she still gets naseaus and vomits - she will be 100 December 22 if she makes it - can you help please/ ? Thank you can you give me an idea of how much this will cost me

Hello, It could be a viral gastroenteritis. As a first line management antimotility drugs like racecadotril can be tried. You have to drink plenty of water also. If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your queries.
