Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I had gastric sleeve surg. 12-6-16 went home from hospital feeling fine then 5 days later developed diarrhea and was diagoised with c-diff. Have been on flagyl 500mg 3x day from 14-24, then cont. with diarrhea and still continue with flagyl 250mg 4x/day as of today. The Flagyl has made me so sick with nausea that I have barely been able to get my fluids in. How will I know when I no longer have c-diff? They are talking about trying another antibiotic but for 10 days if will cost $1,000. Help

Hello,
You should do a stool culture to check for clostridium difficile. After metronidazole treatment you should wait for 10 days then do a stool culture.
The culture also has antibiograme which shows which antibiotics work on you. Then you should take the antibiotic that result from antibiograme.
