Suggest Treatment For Severe Chest Congestion

My wife, age 62, got what we thought was a cold or flu on or about Monday, March 6. She had headache, sore throat, but her temperature was never higher than 100 deg. She developed a cough which got really bad on Thursday, March 9. The cough sounded like a lot of phlegm was in her chest but the cough has been unproductive, and now I can hear a gurgling or crackling sound when I listen to her breathe. Tonight she is unable to sleep since her chest sounds are really bad when she lays down. Email address is: YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

I got your chief complaint and all these symptoms are due to infection and she had developed congestion as well.

She needs an antibiotic coverage like Levofloxacin and decongestants like Pseudoephedrine. She will recover in one to two weeks completely after taking drugs. There is no need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
