Suggest Treatment For Severe Bloating Post A Colon Resection Surgery

I am a 65 year old woman. I had colon resection surgery when I was 49 years old. I started having IBS when I was in college. My intestines were a mess, bloated, twisted, and they had even stuck together. I had a wonderful doctor treating me for many years.after getting pre cancerous results fro biopsy he performed the surgery. My doctor has since retired. I have about 7 inches of intestines left. I frequently have to eliminate and I doubt I have good absorption due to so little intestines remaining. Anyway, I have major bloating and gas issues. I had a short colonoscopy recently and polyps were benign. Also, hemorrhoids were removed. Should I try activated charcoal? If so, how should I use it? Do you have any other suggestions?
