Suggest Treatment For Severe Acne On Face And Forehead

Hi doc,I am a 26 yr old lady.Acne has been troubling me since I was 17 yrs of age.it subsided in an yr.den it started again wen i turned 22.from few here n there,it gradually increased to large number large numbers.now I have marks on both cheeks n forehead with red,puss filled pimples.I need a solution.I am adviced acnelak sopa n crixan gel at nit by a derm.but i am skeptical about the gel ,known its side effects.any help appreciated.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain acne occurs due to a few reasons like:

1. Excessive production of sebum from the sebaceous glands..
2. Excessive proliferation of cells of sebaceous glands..
3. Bacterial infection..
4. In females it can be due to hormonal changes during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy .
5.Inflammation..

The soap and gel given to you both are antibacterial in nature so along with continuing the same you should also use:
- Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid containing ointments or gels..
-Isotretinoin containing gels as it helps in reducing sebum production..
-Azelic acid containing gels as it has antibacterial action..

In cases of severe acne Muricoprin which is an antibiotic can also be taken under consultation of a Dermatologist..

Other ways to reduce acne is by the use of Chemical peels [Glycolic acid peels], Microdermal abrasion and Lasers..
