Suggest Treatment For Severe Acid Reflux And Cough While On Omeprazole

I have been diagnosed with acid reflux but I never have burning sensation and my doctor advised me to take Omeprazole but I have read that taking it too long can exacerbate your cough. I cough up phlegm every morning and it takes about 20 min. before i can completely clear my throat. I have been to a throat specialist and he said it is because my esophagus is very small and narrow but I think it is really a sinus problem because I can feel that dripping into my throat. I live in AZ which is a very dry air state and so I am thinking of taking a sinus med instead of acid reflux and sleeping near a personal humidifier that I can breathe all night.

Hi,

In my opinion, you may have post nasal drip that means your secretions go down in your throat and cause the cough. You should check also if you are allergic to any allergen this also be the cause of your cough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
