Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I drank sangria and had a few tapas items at a wine bar the other evening and the next day my stomach hurt so bad. The pain was coming from my diaphragm. Bowel movement did not take place until a half hour after the stomach pain began. The movement was normal stool and not diarrhea. The last time I drank sangria which was a month before, the same thing happened but worse. Could this be an allergic reaction to sangria?
Very likely the pain is due to stomach irritation. If the symptoms are due to allergy, stomach pain can happen but nausea and possibly diarrhea are likely to happen as well.
I would recommend you to avoid food or drinks that you know hurt your stomach as these can cause peptic ulcer which is an important damage in the stomach inner layer.
To help with the stomach pain, omeprazole can be used and also you can avoid caffeine and alcohol. If no improvement with these or any worsening, you will need to see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
