Suggest Treatment For Sebaceous Cyst On Arm

Hi doctor,
I have a serbacious cist on my arm just below my shoulder.I went to see my doctor. An incision was made to drain the cist .After cleaning and dressing it, he gave me a prescription for fucidin cream.I read on the internet that fucidin should not be applied to an open wound. Is there an alternative?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Fucidin OR Fusidic acid is a topical antibiotic. It is ok to apply fucidin to a wound. It would prevent any possibility of secondary bacterial infection. Even other topical antibacterials available in cream/ ointment form like mupirocin, framycetin, retampmulin etc can be applied to a wound.
