Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose, Cough And Sore Throat

Hi I am experiencing flu symptoms I think. Have been tired for a week and the last two days have runny nose, coughing - dry cough, now sore throat and losing my voice.Lots of fatigue. No muscle ache, no headache. Concerned as have been around 4 yr old as well so I know it s viral & no I don t take flu shot. Is there something i should be doing - doctoring? I m 70, female & only take one prescription drug. Paula

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Tylenol every six hours to relieve the symptoms . I suggest to use a throat spray for local application. I recommend to drink liquids, eat a healthy diet and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
