Suggest Treatment For Right-sided Neck Pain And Armpit Pain When I Have Hypothyroidism

Hi, I have been experiencing right sided neck pain. I have hypothyroidism so I thought maybe it had something to do with it. It started earlier today and has since moved into the ride side of my chest. It almost feels like it is moving from my neck into my chest in shooting like motions. It sometimes hurts in my arm pit. I have insurance but my copay is $2,000. That will lapse back over at the beginning of the year. We are living paycheck to paycheck. I can not afford to go to the doctor if this isn t something serious. My question is should I be worried enough to go to the ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From your history, it does not look like an emergency. Most probably, it appears to be related with cervical nerves (Radiation from neck). Hence, you first try neck immobilization by using cervical collar for some time. If it does not solve your problem then, you will have to consult your physician. However, it does not seem to be related with your thyroid problem any way.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
