Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Spots On The Feet

Hi Around Xmas I suddenly broke out in little red itchy spots all over my feet, top and underneath. My feet were very itchy and hot. Then they started to swell and the skin was peeling off, it also moved up my legs as far as my calfs. Following a course of Steroids and many weeks of pain and not being able to walk as to put my feet on the floor was agony. Eventually the redness subsided as did the spots, the skin stopped peeling but I was left with continual swelling/puffy. My toes are numb and hard to bend, very stiff. I have what I ve been told the start off Lymphodema where my calf is starting to look an odd shape. I m so worried as my mum became house bound over a severe case of this her legs were a mess. I m on hemo dialysis at home, up until Xmas when this started I had thin legs, ankles and feet and I have been on dialysis for 8 years with no issues. What has happened and what can I do to get rid of it. I m getting nowhere with my GP, Renal consultant and Dermatologist, just get told to wear compression stockings, move about (I have an office job), i have to watch my diet anyway. I am overweight but have so many restrictions its a nightmare due to renal failure. Hope you can help.

Hello,

As per your case history, you are having pompholyx, my treatment advice
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days. If the problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
