Suggest Treatment For Red Bruises On Middle Back Bone

A strip (two vertebrae) near my middle backbone are dark red (like a bruise). I don t know how this happened, my guess is from sitting very wrong against the wall for too long. It hurts to touch, but only then. How do you suggest immediate treatment seeing as I m flying today (plane) and treatment afterwards?

Hello,

You are having red bruises on the middle back bone due to sitting in wrong posture. It is hurting you. You are suggested to apply ointment Thrombophob on the bruise to help reduce any blood clots below the skin. Once the blood clots clear out you should apply ointment Soframycin for faster healing and to prevent infection.

Take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one stat after food to reduce inflammation, soreness and pain. It should get healed in 3-4 days. In the meantime, you should maintain your blood sugar level at normal at all cost. Since you are to take a flight, it will be better if you visit ER and get cleaning of the bruise and antiseptic dressing done. If required you will be given a course of antibiotics for faster healing.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
