Suggest Treatment For Recurring Toe Infection

Hi. Iv got flucloxacillen for a toe infection ( although iv had these about 10 times in the last 12 months and as soon as they finish the infection returns but the doctor said there was nothing else he can give) I'm really struggling to take 4 a day around the food times. I'm managing to fit 3 in without food but the other one I'm struggling so can I take them if iv just had dinner?

Brief Answer:
Require culture and sensitivity test for alternate antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcome. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.

I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

Recurrent infections of toe are due to micro-organisms that are usually resistant to many drugs. Staphylococcal infection is suspected in your case and if flucloxacillin hasn't improve your toe infection, I suggest you to get a culture and sensitivity test.

Basically a specimen will be taken from toe site and will be tested for micro-organism growth as well as its sensitivity or resistance to list of different antibiotics. Whichever antibiotic will be sensitive to infection can be prescribed to you.

Intravenous antibiotics may be needed in your case as recurrent toe infections often require aggressive treatment to prevent complications.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. Keep a follow up to see how you doing.

Regards!
