Hi,

Treatment of cystosarcoma phyllodes is usually by surgical removal, as generally radiotherapy, chemotherapy or hormonal treatment is not effective in this tumor. Also, this tumor, usually does not metastasize, hence removal of the tumor by local surgical operation, perhaps was the best option in your case and that is the reason this was removed by surgery in your case.

Cystosarcoma is a tumor of special type whose type will mainly depend on its histological features, which may be benign, malignant or even indeterminate type. Even if, of benign or indeterminate type, there may be a risk of its turning into cancerous. In my opinion, to be on safer side, the best option for you in this case seems to be its removal by surgery as advised by your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
