Suggest Treatment For Recurring Fever And Sore Throat In A Toddler

My 3yr old granddaughter has a fever that is reaccuring approximately every 7 to 8 days along with a sore throat. Strep tests are negative & apparently tonsillitis is the problem. She has been taking antibiotics, but it doesn t seem to help. Ear,nose and throat doc says tonsils gotta go,understandably, but why would she be having this problem for months now nonstop? When my 3 boys were 3,4 &51/2 yrs old we seemed to have same problem with strep...made me nuts! Finally Dr. wanted me tested to see if I was a carrier. I didn t have tonsils, never had strep, but I Was the carrier! After being treated with antibiotics, we were good! Can this also be a reason for reaccuring tonsillitis? Can someone with no symptoms (or tonsils!), be a carrier? I appreciate your time and opinion concerning this...Thank you. Sincerely, Lynda Reyes

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of recurring fever and sore throat which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take antihistamines and antibiotic combination as the infection is present. Yes, this could be the reason for recurrent tonsillitis. Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Take ibuprofen. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozenges are helpful. Drink lukewarm water throughout the day as it can provide relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
