Suggest Treatment For Recurring Dust Allergies And Wheezing In A Child
Hi Doctor, My son is 9 yrs old and suffers from cold climate, dust allergy with difficulty in breathing at night/early morning times. We hear wheezing sound also..we used to have 100mcg budecort inhaler 2-3 puffs, but recently we have to nebuluze him with budexort .5mg and levolin .63mg mixture resuples to make him sound sleep... Iam quite worried on this change and his health now...Please advise on which method is better and how to avoid both of them in near future and improve his health better. Thanks Sankar
Your child seems to have intermittent asthma. He needs proper treatment with both salbutamol (Ventolin) and steroid inhalers and sometimes other drugs need to be added. If his symptoms are controlled for at least 2 months with this treatment he can step down by gradually decreasing the dose of his medications till he completely stops them. Any worsening of the symptoms with the dose reduction indicates that he has to go on with the treatment for longer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
