General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your child seems to have intermittent asthma. He needs proper treatment with both salbutamol (Ventolin) and steroid inhalers and sometimes other drugs need to be added.
If his symptoms are controlled for at least 2 months with this treatment he can step down by gradually decreasing the dose of his medications till he completely stops them.
Any worsening of the symptoms with the dose reduction indicates that he has to go on with the treatment for longer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
