Suggest Treatment For Rashes And Open Sores On The Leg

My mother in law has a rash with open sores on hr leg and it is itchy. Been there since last fall. It is now spread to both lower arms. She was on vacation in the south east part of the States early last fall. Was also on a cruise ship at the same time a few weeks before the itchiness started last September. She has been to the doctor on several occasions and their treatment does not seem to be working. Can you help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms can be related to an infection. I suggest to use antibacterial soap to clean the sores. She should apply at the sores an antibiotic cream and cover them with clean bandage. Maybe prescribed oral antibiotics are needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
