Suggest Treatment For Radiating Pain From Wrist To Thumb After Injury

Hi. I fell on my wrist while reaching back to catch myself about a month ago. My wrist hurt really bad at the time but no bruising or swelling. Since then when I write or hold something or try to pick something up my wrist hurts terribly and the pain radiates into my thumb. Should I have it xrayed?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you got injury to your wrist due to fall . There is no bruising or swelling. But when you write or hold something your wrist hurts terribly. Pain radiate into thumb. You can take analgesic such as diclofenac for pain relief. I will recommend you to get x-ray done of your wrist AP, oblique and Lateral view to rule out fracture specially scaphoid fracture as pain radiate to thumb. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
