General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

For symptomatic hemorrhoids, we recommend initial conservative treatment with dietary management consisting of adequate fluid and fiber intake. For pain you may benefit from soak buttocks in 2 or 3 inches of warm water. You can do this up to 2 to 3 times a day for 10 to 15 mins. Do not add soap, bubble bath, or anything to the water. You can also use cream or ointments that you rub on your anus to relieve pain, itching and swelling. You can use hydrocortisone cream but do not use it more than a week. If you do not improve see a doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Heang Chan Raksmey, General & Family Physician
