Suggest Treatment For Profuse Sweating

Recently within the past 6 months or so I have had increased SOB, with simple exertion, walking up stairs and sometimes talking. I am physically active, able to run 2-3 miles, yoga, weights. Running 6-10 (5K s yearly). Currently training for Tough Mudder. And have been experiencing abdominal fullness. Went snow shoeing 2 days up a hill and was totally out of breath, sweating profusely and extremely red faced. Heart felt like it was going to bound out of my chest but no pain, pressure or discomfort. Resolved with rest. Profuse sweating and flushing occurring many times a day, I am 48 could be menopausal, but very unlike my normal. Did see my PCP and had a normal EKG 2 months ago.

Hi,

Profuse sweating can be treated by injections of botulinum toxin A (Botox), the same medicine used for wrinkles. Botox is FDA-approved for treating excessive sweating of the underarms, but some doctors may also use it on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Monish De,
