Suggest Treatment For Pins And Needles Sensation On Shoulders

Hi my husband has had pain in his shoulder for 6 weeks and pins and needles and shooting pain down his arm and fingers..he s seen 2 different GP s and they say its muscular and have given Naproxin and Cocodamol..its making no difference..I think he has a trapped nerve as I suffer from Sciatica a lot and I,ve also had a frozen shoulder before..do you think he would benefit from a Cortisone injection? He suggested it but they said no..they also said it might just go away overnight even though they maintain its not a trapped nerve..they seem to be contradicting themselves! Hope you can advise as he s in constant pain and getting no sleep

hi
thank you for asking your concern and welcome to HCM. i would ask a question whether pin like sensation during any movement also? then chances of nerve entrapment is there. if there is history of any trauma then this is likely. you can do few things at your own ask your husband to lift arm slowly sideway as a clock from 6 o clock to 9 o clock. see whether pain increases if yes then nerve entrapment may be a possibility. as you said frozen shoulder is also a possibility. rotator cuff injury, arthritis these are various possibilities. treatment varies according to condition. steroid injection helps in one condition and no help in other condition.
for that i would suggest you to consult a physiotherapyst so that a diagnosis can be made and likewise tratment can be given also screen for the diabetes.
i hope i answered your concern
