Suggest Treatment For Phlegm Build Up With Vomiting

My husband is on many medications after a heart attack. He has been having alot of Phlegm building up in his stomach that makes him nauseated and often vomits it up. This happens nearly every day when he first gets up. Some days he is nauseated all day. He has tried Musinex and other similar meds for thinning the phlegm, but nothing seems to make a difference. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to post nasal drip. I suggest:
- Keeping the air moist
- Drinking plenty of fluids
- Applying a warm, wet washcloth to the face
- Not suppressing a cough
- Using a saline nasal spray or rinse
- Gargling with salt water

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
