Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain Under The Breast

I have a persistent pain under my right breast in the rib just after the sternum ends. I feel the pain during breathing and bending. I suffer from bloating and loss of appetite too. Sometimes I feel pain in my stomach similar to ulcer pain. My abdominal girth has increased too. I am 34, a female.

Hi. Thanks for your query in HCM. I am Dr.Aliem, and I am pleased to answer your query. The chest discomfort and abdominal pain, with bloating and loss of appetite suggest that you have "Acid peptic Disease", which means early stage of Peptic ulcer disease. At the same time, chest discomfort that increases during breathing may also be due to some problem in your pleura, which is the tissue covering your lungs. I give you the following suggestions:
1. Avoid taking spicy foods
2. Take your meals at fixed times as far as possible.
3. Be in upright posture for at least about 1 hour after taking food.
4. Avoid tea/coffee/chocolates/alcohol/smoking
5. Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes
If the problems persist, or if you develop other symptoms like cough, vomiting etc. consult your physician. Pleural problem may be diagnosed by a chest x-ray, and Acid peptic disease may need a course of proton pump inhibitor drugs at appropriate doses.
