Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Sore Throat In A Child
My 4 year old son woke up coughing bad & sore throat. I've taken his temp with 3 different thermometers & they all read around 96. His norm temp is the normal 98.6. He sounds horrible. He was sniffling before bed so we gave him Benadryl thinking it was allergies.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of persistent cough and sore throat which is due to chronic lung infection or due to impaired immunity of child. Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to visit pediatrician/ pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests, blood tests and x-ray chest as well to check exact level of infection. Start treatment only after proper prescription. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should use mist humidifiers in room. You should take cough expectorants as well. Drink plenty of water. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will boost immunity.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
