Suggest Treatment For Persistent Chest Pain

This early after noon during a business meeting I felt a pain in the center of my chest, however since I have been in excellent health It surprised me but I was very concerned. A few minutes later it disappeared, so I am now at home it has not occurred since, however I wondered if I should go to the emergency clinic......What can cause a pain in that area of your chest other than a heart aliment ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your query, I would like to say that pain in the area around the chest is not always related to the heart. Since these days due to lifestyle and other different reasons any kind of pain in this area should not be ignored.

Whenever a patient comes to my clinic with chest pain irrespective of age I suggest him to go for an EKG test. After carefully going through the results further decisions are made. As you said the pain was there for some time and it was gone later and you feel no such issue now. There are many reasons for this like a muscle pull, bone pain, nerve irritation etc. Doing an EKG now is something that I won’t advice you as best results of the EKG indicating any health problems related to heart are achieved while the patient is having pain.

Rather you can visit your doctor for a routine check up and mention this to him and follow his advice. Apart from this I would suggest you to keep exercising and stay fit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
