I fell down some stairs a week ago hitting the front of my leg above the ankle on very sharp edges of the stairs (slate stairs). Still very swollen, worse as the day goes by. Lots of discoloration. Unable to put foot down flat, very sharp, throbbing pain in area that took the direct hit. I can walk but not normally; not bending foot or ankle. The spot that took the blow is raised substantially and is discolored red and purple, except white where it is swollen the most. Been elevating and icing but I see nor feel any improvement. I don t believe it is broken but could there be a bone chip? Do I need to seek help of doctor? Thank you.
