Suggest Treatment For Painful Knuckles After An Injury

Hello. thank you for having me. I punched a doorframe and my third knuckle got pushed back so that I do not see its profile. This happened a few days ago. Although initially, the pain was such that I could not move my 3rd finger at all, now the pain has almost gone and I can clench a light-to-medium fist. ... but my knuckle has not fallen back into place. What should I do? WILL MY KNUCKLE EVENTUALLY FALL BACK INTO PLACE, or will it require surgery? Please note that my hand functions like normal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Please undergo x-ray hand AP and lateral to rule out any fracture. If you do not have any bony problem, then you should undergo an examination by an orthopedic surgeon. And you need MRI hand.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
