Suggest Treatment For Painful And Inflamed Spot On The Lips
I have a small hole on the inside of my lip which was inflamed and quite painful. I've used a cortisone for two days and the inflammation has gone down. I've stopped the cortisone as I've read it isn't good for lips. It's quite painful when I squash my lips together. I'm not in the sun often either. What would you recommend? Thank you. Leighann

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from canker sore and an hole on the inside of lip that is severely painful and inflamed is due to canker sore only. Cortisone being a steroid helps in reducing inflammation thus relieves pain and redness. Using a steroid for long-term is harmful but if you use for a week or so there is not a problem.
I would suggest you to start gargling with warm saline solution, gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing lignocaine, take a vitamin B complex daily, you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, avoid spicy and hard foods, take a soft and bland diet, you can also suck ice and do cool water rinses. In case of no improvement consult an oral physician and get evaluated.
