General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there and thanks for asking us on HCM.

Is it Susac disease that you are afflicted with? I am sorry that you are experiencing nerve pain on your scalp.
If left untreated, Susac's disease affects the brain causing encephalopathy, the tiny blood vessels in the eyes causing loss of vision and the tiny blood vessels in the ears causing hearing loss. I hope that you are on mainstay treatment with high dose corticosteroids and other medication like cyclophosphamide or intravenous immunoglobulin.

By Zerotin, do you mean Neurontin? Neurontin is gabapentin and is used for treating nerve pain, so yes, it may help you. Your doctor thought you were having parasthesia. You could start with 300mg three times a day and titrate up till you reach 1800mg per day.

Do inform the team / doctor tending to you for Susac's that you have developed nerve pain. You may be having a flare-up and corticosteroids will help contain it.

I hope this information helps you. I do hope you feel better soon.

Take care
Dr Shabnam
