Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Torso

I am a 68 yr. old female, for several years when I bend over I get a sever pain in my upper right torso area. It feels like something is tightening up in a spasm. I can actually feel and see it. I have to straighten up and breath calmly and let it pass, this takes up to a minute to subside. Any ideas on what would cause this? thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The severe pain you feel in your upper right torso area could be due to a sprain of the muscles in your back. I advise running MRI of your spine to evaluate the changes there and treat them correctly.

For the moment, I can advise:

- avoid movements that would trigger that pain
- apply the analgesic cream on that area
- take magnesium+zinc+calcium+vit.D supplement to nourish your muscles and nerves.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
