Suggest Treatment For Pain In Right Knee Caused Due To An Injury
I am 70 years old. I fell down a couple of weeks ago in another country and hurt my right knee. I saw the doctor and he took some xrays and couldn t see anything. He suggested it may be a subtle ligament damage or undisplaced fracture. The pain just keeps getting worse and i want to see someone who can help the most. since I m overseas now with somewhat limited finances I was wondering who the best person to see is regarding the pain. An orthopedic surgeon, osteopath or a Physiotherapist? Thank you for your help.Kind regards,Ren

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to injury to internal structures of knee like meniscus or ligaments. A physical examination by an orthopedician will give clue for that and a X ray followed by MRI if needed will confirm the condition. If it is mild then analgesics , wearing braces and muscle strengthening exercises will be helpful. But if injury is severe or there is no improvement by conservative measures then an arthroscopic correction is well appreciated. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
