Suggest Treatment For Pain From Hip To Toe After An Injury

Hello, I dislocated my knee about 10 years ago, and it has given me countless troubl over the years. Ive had 2 surgeries and an currently receiving cortisone injections. I slipped 2 times In the past 2 days and hyper extended it and it may have slipped outta place. I m currently in a lot of pain but not a large amount of swelling. The pain is from my hip to my toes with more pain behind the knee cap. I m wondering if I should go to the hospital or wait to see a family doctor in the next cple days. I dont have anything to take for pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to nerve compression at lumbar level. For further assessment you may require MRI back, nerve conduction studies after spine surgeon consultation. You may require tablet pregabalin and multivitamin. Continue physical therapy. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
