Suggest Treatment For Pain Caused By Small Kidney Stone
My husband was diagnosed w/1 small kidney stone on June 29th, 2016 in the ER at a local hospital. They gave him a prescription for Tamsulosin(0.4 mg oral capsule). Dosage; 1 capsule a day for 7 days. He will take his last dosage tomorrow July 6th. My concern is that he s still in quite a bit of pain still. Is this normal? How we he know when and if he passes it? YYYY@YYYY
So tamsulosin is not for kidney stone. Small kidney stone up to 5 mm in size usually gets washed away in urine if you drink lots of water, say more than 3 litres in a day. No need for any drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
