Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling On Knee After An Injury

I am 54 year old female. I fell on my knee very hard and now everything below my knee is very swollen. Besides keeping it elevated at night is there anything else I should do? My knee hurts going up and down steps and I get a sharp pain in my knee when I touch it in a certain spot. Thank you.

Hi,

You shouldn't ignore it.

Get xray of both knees standing in AP view done and send me the report.

Till then you can take aceclofenac + thiocochicoside combination three times a day by prescription of your family doctor.

Apply hot packs for 30 mins in morning and evening.

Avoid upstairs and squatting as much as you can.

Apply painkiller ointment and compression bandage from foot to mid thigh.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

Dr.Singh.
