Hi. I m a dancer. My foot has been swollen with pain for week 1/2. I took mri for foot and ankle which resulted in doctor not seeing injury. Yet foot is still swollen with pain. I know there is injury. Could there be error on surgeon s part or is there another option to determine what s going on? thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have not mentioned what your MRI report says. In dancers generally, the foot & the ankle get swollen & painful. It is due to a sprain in the ankle, stress fracture, Achilles tendonitis or heel spur.

You can take pain relievers, NSAIDs. I suggest you get examined by an orthopedic surgeon. Get Imaging tests done. Get assessed & treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
