Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Ankles Of A Child
My 9 year old granddaughter has ankle problems. After normal physical activity for a 9 year old active girl, her ankles get stiff, swollen and she is in pain. This happens most of the time but not always. She has been experiencing this for about 6 months. Her doctor first said she had a stress fracture in the one ankle and wore a boot. After not getting any better she went back to the doctor and was told she may have weak ankles and physical therapy will help. Now when it happens a call is made to the doctor, appointment set a few days later and no sign of the problem at the appointment time? So no answers just keep doing the PT. Could it be something more?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Painful and swollen ankles may be cause by stress/strain since problem always linked to physical exercise. The problem could as well be caused by an autoimmune arthritis or rheumatism.I will suggest you see the Doctor for an ASLO test, a Rheumatoid factor test and ESR.These may help point something out.In the mean time, pain drugs like ibuprofen and topical pain gel like voltarene may help when she is in pain. Hope this will help Best regards
