General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Numbness in the hand after surgery is commonly because of pinched nerve due to injections or IV sets. Numbness should go away slowly since the swelling is gone.

He can apply ointment Thrombophob locally for relieve in the area affected. But if the numbness is spreading to the different areas then you need to urgently report to the treating surgeon. Your Bf may need medical attention.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
